For Teresa Giudice, the recent headlines surrounding her daughter Milania are not simply another celebrity story. Behind the cameras and public attention, she says, a 20-year-old is trying to cope with profound loss and a deeply painful period in her life.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star recently addressed concerns about Milania, asking the public for privacy while her daughter receives support from those closest to her.
In an Instagram statement, Teresa described the past several months as extremely difficult for the family. She said Milania has endured “tremendous heartbreak” and significant psychological trauma after losing two close friends.
Her comments came after bodycam footage emerged from an incident involving Milania at Tampa International Airport. During the encounter, Teresa could be heard telling her daughter, “I just want to save your life.”
Teresa also told police she believed Milania had fentanyl in her system. According to the reported account, Milania suggested that something she consumed while attending college could have been laced.
Rather than publicly focusing on the details of the incident, Teresa’s statement placed the emphasis on what she believes her daughter needs now: family, professional support and appropriate care.
The situation comes during an already difficult year for Milania. In May, she was arrested in New Jersey and charged with simple assault following an alleged domestic incident. She pleaded not guilty and is due back in court on September 29.
Her representative has previously said that Milania is under the care of professionals and has the support of family and friends.
Then came another devastating loss.
Milania’s close friend Victoria Zardoya died in July after a fall during a trip to Florida. Milania later remembered her friend publicly on social media, adding another layer of grief to an already turbulent period.
Her father, Joe Giudice, has also spoken publicly in support of his daughter, asking for understanding as she deals with her losses.
For a family accustomed to living under the glare of reality television, the latest chapter has placed an uncomfortable spotlight on something much more private: grief, vulnerability and the struggle to protect a young adult while the world watches.
Teresa’s message ultimately asks for something that celebrity families rarely receive easily — space.
For Milania, the immediate story may not be about headlines, court appearances or airport footage. It may simply be about getting through an extraordinarily difficult time with the people who love her standing beside her.
