When a Fake Romance Starts Reading Like Destiny

What happens when two people agree to pretend they are in love—and then discover they can hear each other’s thoughts?

That is the strange doorway into Olympus U, the new immersive audio romance bringing Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman back together after their collaboration on Prime Video’s The Love Hypothesis.

This time, however, their romance leaves the familiar world of contemporary relationships and enters the realm of Greek mythology.

Written by Kate Goldbeck, Olympus U reimagines the story of Hades and Persephone inside a university setting. Reinhart voices Seph, an ambitious young woman desperate to escape the image of being the perfectly behaved “good girl.” Bateman plays Hayden, a mysterious graduate teaching assistant whose family connection to the Underworld makes him anything but an ordinary campus love interest.

Seph’s problem begins with a university gossip column that paints her as sheltered and predictable. Her solution is equally theatrical: convince Hayden to pretend to date her and help reinvent her public image.

The arrangement should be simple.

It isn’t.

What begins as fake dating slowly develops into something neither of them planned for. Then comes the real twist—a mysterious connection gives Seph and Hayden the ability to hear each other’s thoughts, turning their pretend relationship into an intimate psychological game where hiding feelings becomes almost impossible.

Quinn describes the production as a mythology-inspired romance built around enemies-to-lovers and fake-dating tropes. But beneath those familiar romantic ingredients is a more unusual question: what happens when two people lose the ability to keep their inner worlds private?

The reunion of Reinhart and Bateman is also central to the project’s appeal. Their previous work together on The Love Hypothesis established a romantic pairing that Quinn founder and CEO Caroline Spiegel described as a natural fit for Olympus U. Spiegel has also connected the earlier project to the world of Reylo fan fiction, suggesting that the new mythology-driven romance carries some of that same fantasy of forbidden attraction into a different universe.

Olympus U is the third Quinn Original duet production. It follows Ember & Ice, starring Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, and Rent Free, featuring Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn.

The first two episodes are scheduled to arrive on the Quinn app at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, introducing listeners to a campus where gossip, mythology, desire and mind-reading collide.

Because sometimes the most dangerous romance is the one that begins as a lie—and ends with nowhere left to hide.
